From Casey Anthony winning her case
to Charlie Sheen and his fall from grace.
Japan suffered a major quake
and the world reached out in its wake.
Unemployment rates continue to tower
and the 99 percent wants their rise to power.
As Libya liberates and Egypt riots,
America watches the Kardashian’s go on diets.
Winehouse goes ‘Back to Black’ one final time-
gas prices are still on their climb.
Osama bin Laden is found by the troops-
NBA players locked out of their hoops.
Will and Kate finally did wed-
Now it’s the time to put 2011 to bed.
Not only is this rap fun and entertaining, but it also keeps the important part of this rap, which is the top news stories of 2011. I think that all of these events were important in throughout the year; some may be less important then the others, but they still captured the attention of many people around the world. I think that due to her witty and intellectual rhymes, it captured the intrest of many readers as being their favorite, including mine.

North Branford couple help out Ugandan village
In a recent article of the New Haven Register, a couple from North Branford recently went on a mission trip to a Ugandan village in order to help the impoverished area. In addition to bringing food, goods and movies (The Lion King), they have also built trenches for the village so it will be easier to attain water instead of walking 4-12 miles like they usually have to. Also, the couple funds farm improvements, and provide goats for milk and trading in villages in Uganda. This couple shows great compassion and dedication to everything they do, and hopefully the donations towards Bridges to Hope will become larger in the future. and will go towards scholarships or other projects.

VANS WARPED TOUR 2012
Many teenagers all over the country, including me, are excited and anxious for this upcoming tour! If you're not familiar with this concert, Warped Tour travels all around the United States during the summertime with upcoming bands, all consisting of different genres (alternative, pop, screamo, etc.) and many people, all of different ages, really enjoy it! Usually every place they travel too is packed, so it would be a smart idea to order tickets in advance. Being my first year last year and not too familiar with everything, I will tell you this so you don't make the same mistakes i did: 1. It is EXTREMELY hot, so make sure you wear a tshirt and shorts or else you will have a heat stroke, i promse you! 2. Sneakers are a MUST.. there will be a lot of walking (wear old sneakers because they will get ruined, just letting you know!) 3. DONT BUY THE OVERPRICED WATER, they have refill stations that i found out about at the end. and 4. DRENCH YOURSELF IN SUNSCREEN... you'll understand why when you get there. So if you follow these instructions, this years warped tour will be amazing! ;D

DO NOW 11-15-11
Five things that make me mad:
- girls with obnoxious voices
- guidos
- materialtistic people
- liars
- lazy people
I think that many people would agree with me that materialistic people are probably one of the most annoying and obnoxious group of people. Not only are they selfish and greedy beyond belief, but they dont even have any respect for themselves. They expect to obtain their happiness through lavish and expensive items, and put these items before themselves in order to gain respect from others. In a recent article I read, model and reality star Kendall Jenner (age 16) recieved a $90,000 Range Rover for her sixteenth birthday. Even though her family has huge amounts of money and it maybe does not matter to them that the car was $90,000 dollars, average class people would never waste their money, if they even had that amount to spend due to the bad economy, on this car for their teenager. For example, teenagers are greatly affected by peer pressure, and many times it is hard for them to get past this obstacle, so they buy items that their friends might have in order to impress and gain their respect. It is sad that now a days society is only based on what you have, not what life is meant to be about, which is true happiness through the moments you make of it.

Feature Profile: Kelly Korolyshun
The person that I interviewed was Kelly Korolyshun. She is 16, is from New Haven and has recently become part of the Metropolitan class of 2013. She was skeptical about her switch from Sacred Heart Academy to a new school, especially during at the beginning of her junior year because she would be leaving her good friends behind, but after a couple of weeks at Metro, she loves it and has made many new friends.
Now as for a couple of facts about her: Kelly loves English because she says that she can understand it the best; after viewing a couple of pieces of her writing, I'd say that she has very good English skills. As for sports, Kelly loves to watch baseball; she's enjoyed it since she was little and has even met team members of the NewYork Yankees, who happens to be her favorite team. She has also participated on the softball team for her elementary school, which had a very good winning streak. Kelly loves to listen to Mac Miller, an up and coming rapper, and is going to see him later this year. The one person that she would invite to dinner would be, without a doubt, Leonardo DiCaprio. As long as I've known kelly, she's been obsessed with him. But if Kelly could meet any person one day, she hopes to meet pro surfer Julian Wilson; she has recently become interested in the sport and he is "hot" (as quoted by Kelly.)
In the future, Kelly wishes to become a pilot and also become part of the Air Force, which i personally think is amazing. When she gets older, Kelly would like to visit Greece and Fiji, in addition to many other destinations.
